Our Building Services Unit (BSU) team sit in the Housing Services portfolio and maintain social housing and buildings in our communities.
The team is also responsible for:
- new house constructions
- securing tenders to undertake infrastructure service enhancements, such as water tank upgrades, septic upgrades
- extensions to water and sewer mains to service previously un-serviced house lots.
Growing job opportunities
Our building team employ staff from our communities as a priority. In the current financial year alone, The building team have signed on ten new Torres Strait Islander apprentices including:
- 6 x apprentice carpenters
- 1 x apprentice painter
- 2 x apprentice plumber
- 1 x apprentice electrician.
