Councillor Nona resigned as Division 5 - Badu Councillor effective 27th July 2023.
Council invited nominations to fill this vacant position until the next local government election (March 2024). Council received, considered, and confidentially voted upon five high-quality nominations at their August 2023 Council meeting.
We are delighted to announce that Mrs. Ranetta Wosomo was the successful candidate and will assume the role of Division 5 - Badu Councillor for the remainder of the quadrennial local government term.
Mrs. Wosomo will be officially sworn in at the Saibai-based Council meeting on 19 and 20 September 2023.
We thank Councillor Nona for his dedicated service to his local community and wish him well in his future endeavours.
