ANZAC Day 2021

About this event

Date:
Sunday, April 25, 2021 to Monday, April 26, 2021

We commemorate the men and women who have served our nation in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal Peoples have a long, proud, and often unacknowledged history of participation in Australian military efforts.

  • 400 Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal men and women are known to have served in World War I
  • 3000 Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal men and women are known to have served in World War II
  • 7000+ Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal men and women are veterans and war widows
  • 800 Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal men and women currently serve in the Australian Defense Forces

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

25 April 2021 is ANZAC Day. The ANZAC Day Public Holiday is observed on 26 April 2021 and Council offices will be closed on this day reopening on Tuesday 27 April 2021.
