This meeting will be a closed session pursuant to Section 275(1)(a) of the Local Government Regulation 2012 for the purpose of Executive Office arrangements.

EFTPOS machines in some Council offices are currently experiencing a connectivity outage. The affected machines are supplied by Tyro who have advised that the disruption is due to a major software problem affecting over 9,000 customers Australia wide. Council’s priority during this outage is to ensure our community members can continue their usual counter transactions.

Alternate payment methods for Council goods and services are currently in place until further notice for St Pauls, Erub, and Mabuiag communities.

2020 has been a turbulent year for many Australians.

As I reflect on the year that was, I am humbled at how both our Council and Community have shown great strength and resilience in such challenging times. We remain incredibly grateful that the global pandemic did not reach our islands, or the greater Torres Strait region, however we must all remain vigilant and embrace ‘the new normal’ way of life to ensure we remain healthy and keep our communities free of COVID-19.

Every year we publish an Annual Report, which shares key activities and financial performance from the previous financial year. The Annual Report is our single, biggest publication for the year, and gives us the opportunity to share our successes and reflect on areas for improvement.

From 4pm Tuesday 17 November 2020, the following changes apply to restrictions in Queensland:

• Gatherings: Increase gatherings in homes and public spaces from 40 to 50 people across Queensland.

• Indoor premises: Increase from one per person per 4m² to one per person per 2m² (e.g. restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs, museums, art galleries, places of worship, convention centres and Parliament House). Indoor play areas within a premises can open too.
