Child Care

Our Early Childhood Services team provide Child Care for:

  • very young children aged up to 3-and-a-half years old at Aragun Child Care Centre on Badu Island
  • school-aged children at the After School Care Centre on Hammond Island.

Our early childhood education programs work with families to develop age-appropriate educational programs in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework: Being, Belonging, Becoming (Child Care) My Time and Our Place (School Age Care).

Building

Our Building Services Unit (BSU) team sit in the Housing Services portfolio and maintain social housing and buildings in our communities.

The team is also responsible for:

Asset Maintenance

TSIRC has an assets base of over $1 billion, including:

  • infrastructure
  • community housing
  • corporate buildings
  • recreation facilities
  • fleet.

We have a well-developed asset management plan to ensure we get the best life out of our assets and that they are maintained inline with our budget.

Maintenance issues can be identified by:

Animal Management

Our Animal Management programs support animal health in in our communities.

We engage vets to undertake de-sexing, euthanising, micro-chipping and medical treatments during their community visits.

The Animal Management team raises community awareness and education of animal health and wellbeing, in accordance with RSPCA guidelines and Council's local laws.

We reduce feral animal activity through monitoring and managing populations and liaising with our local TSRA rangers.

Aged care

Our Home and Community Care services help people of all ages with a disability stay at home longer rather than face inappropriate or premature admission to residential care.

Council's Integrated Planning

The Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework provides the mechanism to achieve sustainable local government in an environment of effective corporate governance.

Council’s Corporate Plan incorporates community feedback and then set’s out what we would like to achieve over the next five years – Our Strategic Pillars; and how we intend to achieve this.

Our register of fees and charges outlines the fees we charge for various services such as:
•    use of Council-owned facilities
•    processing of development applications
•    permit applications.

Our Policies

Council's policies and guidelines relating to our functions and responsibilities are published here. Councillors participate in formulating, adopting and reviewing policy, in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 2009 (Qld).

Financial Statements

Our financial statements contain information about our financial performance and position.

The statements are made up of the following sections:

Statement of Comprehensive Income - measures how we performed during the year and displays our revenue and expenses.

Annual Reports and End of Term Reports

Every year we publish an Annual Report, which shares key activities and financial performance from the previous financial year.

Our Annual Report is our single, biggest publication for the year, and gives us the opportunity to share our successes and reflect on areas for improvement.

We have received bronze awards at the Australasian Reporting Awards for our 2015 and 2019 Annual Reports. For our 2021 Annual Report we were awarded a silver award.
