An autonomous, prosperous and sustainable community and council

Cr. John Levi - Wug (St. Pauls) Community on Mua Is.

As the representative for St Paul’s community, Councillor John Levi is focused, “to deliver the expectation, the needs of the community, to voice their needs.”

Councillor Levi has a background in construction, railways, housing, and as a carpenter. He enjoys outdoor activities including:

  • camping
  • fishing
  • diving
  • playing darts
  • reading.

Cr. Levi draws strength from his belief in God, his Christian beliefs, his family and his community. His biggest goal for the region is, “to see the manifestation of our positive visions in Council hit the ground, and to make sure that the voice of our people is not only being heard, but their issues are looked into”.

“The future wellbeing of our Torres Straits nation, is that we leave something for future generations to come”. Cr. Levi asks his people to, “appreciate where we have come as a nation; be strong and of good courage, as we lead towards the future … Appreciate life – sometimes we forget – and give thanks for the things we have”.
