Christmas Wishes from Mayor Mosby

2020 has been a turbulent year for many Australians.

As I reflect on the year that was, I am humbled at how both our Council and Community have shown great strength and resilience in such challenging times. We remain incredibly grateful that the global pandemic did not reach our islands, or the greater Torres Strait region, however we must all remain vigilant and embrace ‘the new normal’ way of life to ensure we remain healthy and keep our communities free of COVID-19.

Christmas is a wonderful time of year when we can all come together, as family, as friends and as a community. Each year at Christmas, we are reminded of the importance of our faith, to have hope, and of God’s love;

“Now faith, hope, and love remain - these three things - and the greatest of these is love.” - 1 Corinthians 13:13

So, please do enjoy your time with loved ones, be safe and look out for our younger and elderly community members, and collectively we will all look forward to a fantastic 2021. For those travelling by boat throughout our region during the holidays, please take care and prepare appropriately for your journey and the conditions.

I’d also like to say a mina big eso to my fellow Councillors, and to our fantastic staff, for all that you do for our region and ultimately our communities - the people of Zenadth Kes.

Wishing you and your loved ones, a safe and cheerful Christmas, and a happy and prosperous New Year.

God Bless you all,

Mayor Mosby.
